Los Laureles Lodge Hotel Review: It's hard to fathom that this cozy Carmel Valley inn once was a hunting lodge and a thoroughbred stable. The only thing remaining from this equine past is the country feel: whitewashed beams, throw blankets and plaid overstuffed chairs. Rooms vary in size but all include cable television, in-room refrigerators, hair dryers and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access. One of the Lodge's highlights: the Hill House, a three-bedroom home that accommodates up to nine. History buffs will be interested to know that at one time the house was occupied by Red Cross members to make American flags during the wars. All guests enjoy complimentary breakfast. And for dinner, the Restaurant at Los Laureles serves hearty comfort food and features live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel also boasts a pool.
