Maison de Ville Hotel Review

: It doesn’t get any more traditional than this townhouse, a three-story French Quarter structure rebuilt by Jean Baptiste Lilie Sarpy in 1783. Once the home of Antoine Amede Peychaud of Peychaud’s Bitters --- the most important ingredient in the city’s famous Sazerac cocktail --- Maison de Ville has welcomed a slew of famous guests, from Robert Redford and Liz Taylor to Tennessee Williams, who completed "A Streetcar Named Desire" in Room 9. If this is the kind of back story that makes your pulse race, you'll adore the architectural details, VIP service and eclectic room layouts. Coffee and pastries are served every morning, and you're just steps from the best the French Quarter has to offer. Some spaces are smaller than others, but all are charming, and a few have balconies that glance toward Bourbon Street. There is free Wi-Fi throughout and a lobby computer for general use, but if it's modern luxury hotel amenities you crave (valet parking, swimming pool, gym and room service), look elsewhere. That said, if you'd like to travel back in time and feel the spirit of romantic old New Orleans, this is an ideal choice.
