McMenamins Hotel Oregon Review: The small town of McMinnville can really rock, especially at this historic hotel. The basement Cellar Bar may be a civilized spot for wine tasting, but Legendary Rooftop Bar goes completely crazy at times. During the annual UFO Fest, it's the scene of the Out of this World costume ball. Where else can you see a demure wine broker jammin' in full-body tinfoil? The McMenamin brothers, a couple of Oregon's original microbrewers, spend their fortune refurbishing historic properties such as this one into works of art. There are just 42 rooms in this 1905 building, some with private baths, some shared with another room and some with access to the common bath. The décor is eclectic and comfortable, with the accent on creativity. The hotel offers a number of special packages including one that comes with a tour of local wineries. It's a popular place for weddings, business meetings and family reunions.
