Mountain Meadows Inn Bed & Breakfast Hotel Review: This 1910 Craftsman home was originally built for the superintendent of the largest sawmill west of the Mississippi River in the no-longer-in-existence company town of National. The property was once a social hub for local industry. Now it serves as home to resident deer, elk and birds, as well as lots of John Muir memorabilia and a 1,000-volume nature library. The 11-acre property has a creek flowing through it and a walking trail. It also features cedar groves, plenty of open space and a large lawn. The six guest rooms and common areas are housed in two buildings and feature a mix of antique and contemporary furniture. All of the rooms have private baths and are individually decorated. Breakfast includes Northwest specialties in unique, signature dishes. The owners will pack lunches for hikers and others who plan to spend the day at Mount Rainier National Park six miles away.
