 Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Hotel Review: This gorgeous, golf- and spa-oriented resort sits just over the hills from Santa Barbara. It welcomes guests with its cheery, Spanish-style red roofs and massive health and beauty spa. The latter is a favorite with L.A. denizens, although said guests come for more than just the massages. They're also lured by the peaceful surroundings, a relaxing bar and unforgettable pampering. The landmark inn was built in the 1920s, and the resort's post-millennium, $90 million renovation and expansion made sure to stay true to the original design. Accommodations in the inn have been redecorated in a Spanish Colonial style, with four-poster beds, carved furnishings, restored hardwood floors and decorative period tiles. All have high-speed Internet access and LCD flat-screen TVs, and many have fireplaces and private balconies or patios. Throughout the grounds there are plenty of lovely spaces for doing absolutely nothing, as well as lots on offer for active guests. Choices include a professionally staffed tennis center, children's playground, sports fields and two heated swimming pools. Note to golfers: George C. Thomas' original course has been reconfigured, reversing the front and back nine. The interior of the Oak Grill has been completely redesigned, and added event spaces include two ballrooms and outdoor pre-function areas. |
