Omni Royal Orleans Hotel Review: Renovated in March 2013, this hotel was built in 1960 on the original site of one of the city's most famous nineteenth-century hotels --- the St. Louis was the center of Creole social life circa 1850. A white stucco exterior and lacy iron balconies give the building the image of age, as do the chandeliers, gilt mirrors and tons of marble. The paintings in the lobby, hallways and rooms are original, done mostly by local artists. On the seven floors there are 345 rooms and suites, many with balconies, as well as three restaurants and a luxurious rooftop pool. The look of the guest rooms is traditional, with clean, contemporary lines and colors. Some are quite small. Multiple meeting rooms and a business center accommodate corporate gatherings and conferences.
