Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel Review: The best feature at the Outrigger's flagship property is its central location on the beach in the middle of Waikiki. Though it has good company on the popular beachfront, it strives to differentiate itself from the typical resort destination. Special cultural programs are held on topics such as native medicinal herbs, music and lei-making. A not-to-be-missed for married couples: a complimentary vow renewal ceremony is offered two mornings each week. There are also the expected Waikiki amenities: spa services, a fitness room and a casual eatery-bar on the beach: Duke's Canoe Club. Duke's is a good place for toasting the sunset, listening to live musicians and mingling with locals. Other dining options include the oceanfront Hula Grill Waikiki and Chuck's Steak House. Island themes permeate the property’s décor: taro leaf patterns, original works by local artists and historic photos. There are 525 guest rooms in this no-smoking property hotel, and we recommend you spring for one with a lanai overlooking the lively beach below. All feature air-conditioning, voicemail, high-speed wireless Internet access and turndown service on request. Good news for those on a budget, there is no "resort fee" for amenities such as the Wi-Fi and complimentary direct-dial phone calls to neighbor islands, the U.S. mainland and Canada.
