The Palace Hotel Review: Kings and presidents have slept at this grand dowager, and the luxurious Old World atmosphere makes it easy to see why. The 553 rooms, which include 30 one- and two-bedroom suites, feature original or reproduction mahogany antiques and wrought-iron details throughout (there are modern amenities such as flat screen televisions, too). The Garden Court restaurant offers a breathtaking respite, with marble columns, crystal chandeliers and rich carpeting beneath a remarkable leaded-glass dome. Also notable: the 1909 Maxfield Parrish mural of "The Pied Piper of Hamlin" located in the Pied Piper Bar. The hotel offers a health spa, fitness center and sky-lit swimming pool. Conference and event spaces include a room that can accommodate more than 1,000 people.
