Park Plaza Hotel Review: Open since 1922, this 27-room hotel on chic Park Avenue has done a fine job of preserving its vintage character, sporting tile and fixtures from the ’20s, as well as antiques, brass beds and wicker furniture. Its prestigious location attracts a cultured clientele who enjoy the concentration of museums, art galleries and fine boutiques. The hotel’s common balcony, festooned with ferns, impatiens, bougainvillea and patio furniture, overlooks Park Avenue and offers guests one of the best observation posts in town and a great venue for sipping morning coffee or afternoon cocktails Amenities are few, and children under five are not allowed. However, the hotel’s ambience is its mainstay. Nightly turndown service and complimentary breakfast served in-room or on the balcony set an intimate tone. The adjacent Park Plaza Gardens restaurant is among central Florida’s most popular dining spots, serving seasonal Florida seafood in a courtyard-like setting with an indoor garden, brick floors and a glass roof.
