Paso Robles Inn Hotel Review: Unlike Napa and Sonoma, Paso Robles is a less touristy wine country community, located between L.A. and San Francisco. Its hospitable wineries and small-town atmosphere are what lure travelers to this local downtown landmark, first built in 1857 and rebuilt in brick after a fire in 1891. The grounds are tree-lined, the cozy patios are landscaped with koi ponds, and wedding parties love it here during the summer months. Located across the street from a park, where you might encounter a pancake breakfast served by local firefighters, original guestrooms offer comfortable, unpretentious accommodation, while deluxe spa rooms have fireplaces and personal hot springs Jacuzzis, as do the newer two-room Jesse James Suites, which also have mini-kitchens. Indoor/outdoor hot mineral springs are one of the property's draws and provide soothing comfort (although a sometimes odd smell) after days spent wine tasting. Breakfasts are fun in the hotel's old-fashioned coffee house and diner, which serves up American classics. The inn's classic steakhouse offers quaint fireside dinners, after which you can step upstairs for cocktails in the airy Cattlemen's Lounge.
