Plains Historic Inn Hotel Review

: Cousin of President Jimmy Carter, Hugh Carter once owned an antiques shop on the ground floor of this nineteenth-century building. The space still houses antiques, but upstairs are six rooms and a presidential suite that beckon with warmth, charm and contemporary comfort, including Internet and Wi-Fi. The presidential couple had a personal hand in the development of this charming bed-and-breakfast inn, including the interior d├ęcor. Rooms are themed according to a specific decade, from the 1920s through the 1980s. All rooms take decorative advantage of the old brick walls, and furnishings reflect the period expressed in the theme. You'll find painted wicker and home-style upholstered pieces, emphasizing homey comfort. From this vantage point, guests may explore the Carter boyhood farm and visit Maranatha Baptist Church, where the Carters worship and where the former president teaches Sunday school. His schedule is posted on the church's website three months in advance; plan accordingly as these dates are very popular for the inn. Even if you go at another time, however, you might still catch a glimpse of the former White House residents in town walking along the streets.
