Room Mate Grace Hotel Review: The Spanish boutique brand, Room Mate Hotels, expanded into the U.S. market with New York City's Grace. Formerly known as the Hotel QT, the property was originally opened by André Balazs, creator of the Standards in L.A. and Miami, and jokingly referred to as the sub-Standard for its budget-friendly rates. This Times Square-adjacent property features niceties such as flat screen TVs (one per bunk in the four-person super-budget-friendly bunk rooms), free Internet access and complimentary continental breakfast. The entrance of the 139-room property is discreet, and the lobby is equipped with a check-in kiosk. While the rooms are nice, a few elements might catch you off guard: platform beds whose mattresses are at window sill level and (in some accommodations) showers that open right into the room. The big draw for locals is the bar, which is incorporated into the two-story, lobby-level pool area. Be prepared for cocktails aplenty, steam rooms and a DJ booth. The hotel has a deal with a parking lot a block away.
