The Roxbury Hotel Review: From the outside, this motel looks like a nicely tended, traditional, ranch-style home. Inside, it's another matter entirely. Fun and funky. That's the best way to describe this boutique motel in the Catskill Mountains in the historic village of Roxbury. Accommodations include two studios, seven kitchenette rooms, a three-room suite and the entire upstairs, which includes four rooms. The studios are small, but well equipped with microwaves, fridges and coffee machines. They're a great bargain, especially given their flair --- lots of black and chrome. The kitchenette rooms come in some pretty bold color schemes, so be forewarned. The owners say that the suite was inspired by Austin Powers, and it's true, the shagadelic movie hero would probably get a real kick out of the yellow-and-orange checked floor, zebra-patterned sofa and metallic table and chairs in the tiny dining area. Great for families and groups, the upstairs accommodation comes with two bedrooms, sitting room and bathroom, and has views of the river, a wall covered in fresh flowers, a rainwater showerhead and a pillowtop king bed. All rooms have high-speed Internet access and cable TV with DVD players. A nice DVD library is available, and you can even call ahead to reserve your favorite flicks.
