Safety Harbor Resort & Spa Hotel Review: For more than 2,000 years, Caloosa and Timucuan Indian tribes lived in the Safety Harbor area, where they made use of the natural mineral springs. Starting in the early 1930s, developers discovered the springs and began building a resort to attract tourists. This property is the result. Recognized as a historical landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior, the resort and spa have 189 guest rooms, including four suites. The décor is traditional and unassuming; more importantly, most rooms offer views of the sweeping lawns and nearby Tampa Bay. All rooms and suites come with the usual amenities, plus a daily carafe of mineral water. 105 North serves New American and regional cuisine. The 50,000-square-foot spa offers therapeutic body treatments based on the natural mineral waters.
