San Ysidro Ranch Hotel Review

: This property is more of a retreat than a resort, and it's certainly more luxurious than the term "ranch" implies. Its sprinkling of cottages populate a park-like rural setting on 500 acres tucked into the foothills above Montecito, home to numerous upscale shops and restaurants. It's easy to see why the young, newly-rich-and-famous come here. There's a wonderful country feel to the cottages, which include decks, outdoor hot tubs and wood-burning fireplaces. If you have the big bucks, you can sleep in the two-bedroom cottage where Jackie and JFK honeymooned and where today's Hollywood stars escape to get in touch with nature. Along with peace and quiet, guests will find two tennis courts, a spa, acres of flowering gardens and two superb dining options, Plow & Angel Bistro and Stonehouse Restaurant, the latter of which is located in a nineteenth-century stone building. Having undergone major renovations in 2006, the property is sharper looking and more accessible than ever.

Service is excellent across the board. Food is very good at The Stonehouse, in a romantic setting.
Only drawback was the recent (Feb. 2010) decision to stop giving guests individually wrapped boxes of LeBelge chocolates at turn-down and instead put 4 truffles on a plate.
Also they decided to downsize the bath and shower amenities to 1 oz. products. Previously they were generous 3.5 oz. sizes.
