Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa Hotel Review: This resort is built on the site of the former 1910 Tarpon House Inn. Today, it retains some of the original touches, such as sky-colored ceilings, 180-degree-view verandahs and an eight-sided pavilion with a cupola that dates back to the early twentieth century. Elsewhere the property is completely contemporary. Set on 85 acres, the resort sports three outdoor pools, a spa, a thirteen-slip marina, a fishing pier and six places to dine and drink. There are 278 guest rooms and 69 suites. Substantial renovations in 2003 included stylish furnishings and the addition of five penthouse suites. All of the rooms overlook the resort's namesake harbor, and some have views to the mangroves beyond. A 100-foot yacht, the Sanibel Harbour Princess, sets sail on two-hour nightly sunset dinner and Sunday brunch cruises.
