Shutters on the Beach Hotel Review: At this on-the-beach retreat, travelers appreciate the respite from L.A.'s high octane atmosphere. The exterior design evokes the feeling of SoCal's historic 1920s beach properties, with slate-gray shingled siding, flower-covered trellises, balconies and striped awnings. Two large wood-burning fireplaces add a cozy feel to the inviting lobby. Original works, lithographs and objets d'art by talents such as David Hockney, William Wegman, Roy Lichtenstein and others are prominently displayed throughout the hotel. Guest rooms --- many offering ocean views --- exude the feeling of a luxurious beach home, with expansive marble bathrooms and large whirlpool tubs with glass windows that open from the bath to allow views to the outdoors. The Presidential Suites feature fireplaces and full ocean views. All rooms and suites include stereos, DVD players, 32-inch flat-screen TVs and high-speed Internet access. In addition to a complete business center, amenities include a beautiful swimming pool, deck with beach view, Jacuzzi and state-of-the-art health club. ONE the Spa offers Red Flower and Omorovicza treatments. Meeting spaces include three rooms that open onto an outdoor terrace. Shutters is a beautiful spot for weddings and receptions. One Pico is the hotel's handsome dining room with a view, offering contemporary cuisine. Coast is a bustling, more casual café opening onto the boardwalk and featuring California cuisine with Italian touches and a popular weekend brunch.
