Skylark Hotel Review: The former Camp Palm Springs motel, built in 1955 and virtually untouched for most of its nearly 60-year existence, has been rebranded as the Skylark Hotel. It’s been touched and retouched, nipped and tucked and is looking better than it probably did the day it opened. This gay-owned property was once clothing-optional but is not any longer under new ownership. It now caters to the LGBTQ community and their families. The once tired rooms, 28 in all, are now inviting and stylish with mid-century Danish reproduction furnishings made of mahogany and walnut coupled with LED flat-screen televisions and beds cloaked in 500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. Rooms overlook the pool where bursts of color bleed a rainbow of aqua, cantaloupe, persimmon and aubergine from the collection of loungers and umbrellas. The shamrock-shaped hot tub is ample-sized for getting the party started. The owners have done an exemplary job of taking what many might consider a teardown and transforming it into a fabulous desert destination.
