Star of Texas Inn Hotel Review: This inn is made up of two homes sharing a corner in the West Campus area of the University of Texas. There are nineteen rooms in all, with those in Building 2 a little more modern, though all come with ornate beds, curtains and antique furniture. A welcome feature is a private bath in all rooms, many with a clawfoot tub (and shower) to the delight of those who enjoy a relaxing soak at the end of the day. If you are able to reserve far enough in advance, Room 12 stands out as the one to choose, with a door to the charming second-story balcony. The laid back privacy and B&B setting is especially ideal for parents visiting their children at college, allowing for a vacation within the trip. The location also means proximity to many cultural attractions, including The Blanton Museum of Art and Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The State Capitol building and downtown --- along with its vibrant nightlife and music scene --- are also close by. The hot breakfast is typically made to order, though during some busy periods is buffet style. The chef is amenable to special dietary needs when notified.
