Taj Campton Place San Francisco Hotel Review: A historic landmark for 100 years, Campton Place is to the San Francisco hotel scene as the Transamerica Pyramid is to the city skyline. The façade is modest, with porthole windows at the sides of the hotel, a muted color scheme and uniformed doormen who dutifully greet. Inside, 110 guest rooms feature deep window seats, soaking tubs, Bose sound system clocks, flat screen televisions and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access. The open-air fitness terrace treats gym goers to a one-of-a-kind view of Union Square, and the full-service business center is open 24 hours. The on-site restaurant, also named Campton Place, incorporates Indian flavors. Taj hotels took Campton over in 2007, and changes have been slow, smart and subtle, so as not to shock the hotel's loyal following.
