W Silicon Valley - Newark Hotel Review: In a Silicon Valley suburb near Palo Alto, this hotel brings a surprising (and welcome) degree of urbanity to the region. For those familiar with the W chain, the style will be familiar---sleek and decidedly cool. But despite the hip vibe, this place knows its market: business travelers. The 172 rooms, done in masculine blues and browns, come with work desks with direct Ethernet access, fax/copier/printers and two phones (one cordless). They're also fully equipped with 27 swivel color TVs, Web TV with wireless keyboards, CD players with music selections and a W CD soundtrack. Velvet sofas, suede chairs and granite-topped wet bars highlight the furnishings. Of note: custom headboards with moveable wings so you can keep your nighttime necessities within reach. Also for the corporate crowd is plenty of meeting space, although this isn't your typical executive environment, as you'll find mood music and aromatherapy, as well as retro candies. Two Zen Dens serve as hospitality suites. As in every W, the lobby is known as The Living Room and comes with board games, library shelves and a fireplace. The W Café and Bar serves coffee, baked goods, light meals and Napa and Sonoma wines, while kobaltblu offers urban comfort food. For winding down there are an outdoor heated pool with fire pit, SWEAT fitness center and a Zen water garden.
