App Developers Find Ways to Help Drivers Save

There a number of great apps designed to help you save money at the pump

Looking for less expensive gas? There's an app for that! As prices at the pump continue to soar above the four dollar mark, many smart phone app creators have turned their attention to helping beleaguered drivers save money on fuel.

On mobile app database, users can search through hundreds of gas-related applications that offer a number of different features, like locating the lowest nearby fuel prices, monitoring your car's miles per gallon and even predicting future rates.

Free apps for the iPhone and iPad include GasBuddy, which allows customers to compare prices at local stations, and Gas Cubby, which tracks gas mileage and vehicle maintenance, and even alerts drivers when they are due for an oil change. Apple-less app users haven't been forgotten either, with Cheap Gas and other free programs providing information on fuel consumption and nearby gas prices for the Android operating system.

While cell phones and cars may not be a safe combo, these cool apps prove that smart phones and fuel pumps sure make for a great team!
