Family Goes in Style

2005 Pontiac Montana SV6

By Alain Gayot

In short: A well-priced mid-level multi-passenger vehicle, with good electronics and several hints of luxury.

General Motors remains true to its name, launching a new multi-passenger vehicle with a common foundation that falls under several brand names. Therefore, the Pontiac Montana is also the Saturn Relay, Buick Terraza, and Chevrolet Uplander. The main purpose of this car is to offer traveling families comfort, safety (especially the all-wheel drive model) and entertainment capabilities.

Due to its smartly-designed overhead rail system with DVD, MP3/CD player and one year of the OnStar Safe & Sound Plan, it will be difficult to get bored on the trips to grandma’s house. With seating for up to seven and two automatic sliding side doors, you can swiftly convert the MPV into a cargo van, or combine an array of seating arrangements.

Some of the attributes of note with this all-new model include a reinforced vehicle structure; low step-in height and dual power-sliding rear doors; available remote start; an available 110-volt household-style outlet located in the rear of the vehicle; standard 17-inch wheels and tires; seat-back storage and first- and second-row convenience trays; spacious and flexible rear convenience center/cargo system available; and an available segment-exclusive Mobile Digital Media Powered by PhatNoise entertainment system, which has a 40-gigabyte removable and downloadable hard drive cartridge that plays music, movies and video games and much more!
