THE STORY:

The Cayman S borrows from existing Porsche models but strives to stand on its own. It is a unique automobile and Porsche purists will appreciate it for what it is. It might remind you of the 550 Coupes or even the 904 Carrera GTS Coupe of yesteryear. The doors and the hood are from the Carrera. The engine starts on a Boxster base as well as the chassis and suspension, but both are greatly enhanced. The dash is nearly identical to the one of the Boxster. From there on this reptile takes on its own character. No matter what it is to you, "think of it as an everyday car for the power hungry," says Garry Fong, Public Relation at Porsche Cars North America.
