Valentine One Radar Detector Review

Sniffing Out Speed Enforcement

The Valentine One Radar Detector

As more and more towns begin to rely on speed enforcement to help generate additional revenue, drivers need to shore up their defenses. The Valentine One Radar Detector is one of the best in the business of avoiding speeding tickets. Company founder Mike Valentine designed the original Escort and Passport radar detectors of the late ‘70s and 80s, so he knows his way around a circuit board. The Valentine One has antennas for both front and rear detection, and updates the driver of new radar sources. It will even identify a signal from another detector by flashing “J” for “junk.” The V1 has a fantastic range, giving the driver plenty of advanced warning about the local “Officer Friendly.” The only drawback is that the detector also picks up plenty of false alarms from store security systems in urban areas. While the unit looks the same from when it was created in 1992, it has been continually improved—the company offers an upgrade service for a nominal fee.
