2012 Buick Regal GS Review

Turbocharged Sports Sedan

A front view of a 2012 Buick Regal Premium GS

In short: A very sporty, Euro-inspired, turbocharged midsize sedan.

Conceived as the performance-oriented edition of Buick's upscale midsize sedan, the Regal GS features a powerful, turbocharged 2.0-liter ECOTEC engine and an agile, sport-tuned suspension alongside a host of handsome features like turn-by-turn navigation and heated leather seats. The standard 6-speed manual transmission is responsive and makes shifting easy, while the Interactive Drive Control System with Sport and GS modes allows owners to fine-tune their ride based on personal preference and road conditions. While we found the turbocharger a bit slow in delivering power, the Buick Regal's premium Brembo brakes were quick to action, allowing the sedan to go from 60-0 mph in under 110 feet. Other unique features like rear seat-mounted thorax airbags help make the Buick Regal GS one of the safest cars in its class.
