2012 Hyundai Azera Review

Entry-Level Luxury Sedan

A three-quarter rear view of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS

In short: A value-priced, luxuriously equipped midsize sedan.

Larger than the Sonata yet smaller than the Genesis, the Azera has occupied an almost middle-child-like status in the Hyundai lineup for some time now — pleasant yet ultimately unmemorable when compared with its stellar siblings. However, after receiving an extensive redesign for the 2012 model year, this stylish midsize sedan has finally distinguished itself with a smart new look and feel, and an impressive list of standard features. Larger than the outgoing model, the new Azera provides a comfortable ride for driver and passengers alike. That's not to say that this sedan is soft — with stiffer, more precise handling and an athletic 293-horsepower V6, the Azera boasts solid performance that can be further exploited through Hyundai's responsive SHIFTRONIC transmission. Inside, the Azera continues to show off its smarts with intelligent amenities like touch-screen navigation, a rear backup camera and Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system.
