2012 Kia Rio EX Review

Value-Driven Small Sedan

A three-quarter front view of a red 2012 Kia Rio EX

In short: A well-equipped, value-priced subcompact sedan.

Small in size and low in price, the Kia Rio EX nonetheless made a big impression on us with its stylish looks, solid performance and wealth of standard features. Fitted with a 1.6-liter direct-injected inline 4-cylinder engine, the peppy subcompact sedan offers 138 horsepower while earning an impressive 33 mpg combined. Starting at just over $16,000, the Rio EX comes well-equipped with standard features like satellite radio, Bluetooth wireless technology and an on-board trip computer. Optional features include the Microsoft-powered UVO infotainment system and a rear backup camera.
