2012 Volkswagen Routan SEL Review

Sumptuous Minivan

A three-quarter rear view of a 2012 Volkswagen Routan

In short: A comfortable and well-equipped minivan.

While the Routan may share the same platform as the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan, this American-made Volkswagen offers enviable amenities along with attractive Teutonic touches for a uniquely European spin on the minivan. Offering a cavernous interior with room for seven, the Volkswagen Routan is perfect for cruising with the kids — although full-sized adults should have no qualms with the spacious seating, either. Our SEL model tester came fitted with plenty of road-trip-friendly features, including an on-board trip computer, rear-seat DVD entertainment system and satellite radio, quieting concerns over that age-old question, "Are we there yet?"
