BMW X1 Review

Built in Leipzig of mostly German parts, this new arrival to America has been romping around European roadways for a few years — and we're excited to see it finally make the trip stateside. Based on the same platform as the 1-series sedan, this small SUV stands just over five feet tall; however, like its diminutive sibling, the BMW X1 loves to sprint, offering great handling and peppy acceleration from its twin-turbocharged inline-4. The X1's smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission also comes with ECO PRO mode, which can result in gas savings of up to 20 percent. Fuel is further conserved through forward-thinking functions like auto start-stop and regenerative braking. Our Glacier Silver tester came tricked out with even more intelligent amenities, including a rear-view camera, park distance control and a navigation system with BMW Assist.

Warranty/Service: 4-year/50,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty; 4-year/50,000-mile full maintenance program; 12-year rust perforation limited warranty; 4-year/unlimited-mile BMW roadside assistance program
