2007 Audi S6 Review
Muscular Midsize Sedan
As the sporty sibling of the already excellent A6, the Audi S6 has had a lot to prove since it first rolled off assembly lines over a decade ago. However, with the latest version of the S6, the people at Audi have proven that they are serious when they say "high performance."
Fitted with a big and booming 5.2-liter, 435-horsepower V10, the S6 immediately makes its presence known on the road with a rumbling low-end growl that gives way to a throaty roar at high speeds. And speaking of high speeds, the S6 has no problem hitting them in a hurry, with a 0-60 time that would put many so-called sports coupes to shame, let alone midsize sedans. Complementing the S6's muscular engine is Audi's patented quattro all-wheel drive system, making sure that all of that power hits the pavement where it's needed.
While the ride was remarkably comfortable and the rear seating roomy enough in our S6, the unimpressive fuel economy (15 mpg city; 21 highway) may make it hard for some to consider this certified gas guzzler as a daily driver. Nevertheless, if you've got the means and desire the muscle, the S6 is an excellent choice for a performance-minded midsize sedan.
