2007 BMW X3 3.0si Review
Sure-Footed Small SUV
short: A handy and sporty small SUV.
BMW's recently redesigned small SUV has something for everyone. Gearheads will appreciate the amped-up performance, and luxury lovers will appreciate details like sixteen-way comfort seats and chrome exhaust tips.
With the X3's new magnesium alloy straight-six 3.0-liter engine cranking out a hefty 260 horsepower, this small SUV can speed from 0-60 mph in under 7 seconds—an impressive figure for a vehicle tipping the scale at over two tons. However, thanks to the intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system, this BMW only burns rubber in the figurative sense. While the xDrive sends 60 percent of torque to the rear wheels under normal conditions, it is able to vary its distribution according to where grip is available, resulting in a smooth, sure-footed ride.
As expected, the BMW's high-performance powertrain is complemented by an equally high-class driver's cabin. Both front and rear passengers are given plenty space to stretch out in the X3's comfy seats. In addition, BMW has introduced a slightly softened chassis in the new X3, meaning that babies sleep sound and golf bags stay put in the luxury sport ute's spacious rear storage compartment. However, whether it's the driving range or the mountain range you seek, the BMW X3 is sure to take you there in style and comfort.
