2009 Chevrolet Traverse LTZ Review
short: A roomy seven-passenger crossover with decent fuel economy.
While lavish in its dimensions and weight, the seven-passenger Traverse is thriftier with gasoline than most vehicles in its class. This large crossover, a cousin of the Buick Enclave, uses direct fuel injection technology in its 288-horsepower V6 engine, which Chevrolet says gives the car up to 23 mpg on the highway. Along with relatively decent mileage, the Traverse also features a smoothly styled exterior, an independent suspension, all-wheel ventilated disc brakes and a stability control system with traction control.
Inside the automobile’s spacious, leather-decked cabin are three rows of configurable seating, including comfortable third row seating (and, in our LTZ tester, two second-row captain’s chairs). In addition to 116.4 cubic feet of potential cargo room, the Traverse is loaded with options. Our test vehicle, for example, boasted remote vehicle start, Bluetooth connectivity, ultrasonic rear parking assist, a navigation system with a rearview camera system, a powered rear liftgate, and heat/cool-capable powered front seats. Optional accessories included a dual SkyScape sunroof and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
Five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty; three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty; five-year/100,000-mile roadside assistance; six-year/100,000-mile rust warranty.
