2009 Audi A4 2.0 T quattro Review
Dialing It Up
short: A solid, roomy and sporty premium mid-size sedan.
Thoroughly redesigned for 2009, the new Audi A4 is longer and wider than the previous year’s model, exhibiting a sleeker appearance and a more notably self-confident poise. This sporty five-passenger sedan matches its athletic aura with an efficient (and potent) 211-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which uses direct fuel injection technology for an up-to-27-mpg fuel economy during highway cruising. As a result of using lightweight steel construction in the body, the Audi A4 is also comparatively stiffer, safer and lighter (by ten percent) than its predecessor. Our tester showed off decent road manners thanks to the rigid frame, and available quattro permanent all-wheel drive and Audi drive select.
Inside the bright, spacious and quiet cabin are numerous luxury features, including standard leather seats and a sunroof. There’s ample storage and the trunk is large enough to accommodate even big suitcases and golf bags. The A4’s controls are aimed at the person behind the wheel and show a definite bias towards the driver’s experience. Our prestige model test car was loaded with options, including a DVD navigation system with a seven-inch color monitor, integrated Bluetooth system and rearview camera. Other available features we enjoyed included heated front seats, a rear parking system, a lane change assist, and a killer 505-watt Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with fourteen speakers.
