Unusual to its class, the quiet-driving Lexus GS 450h balances raw performance with a hybrid powertrain, a system that includes a 292-horsepower V6 engine, two electric motors, regenerative-braking disc brakes and a 240-cell NiMH battery. While it won’t beat the Toyota Prius or Ford Fusion Hybrid in fuel economy, this luxury sports sedan is impressive considering that it’s a fuel-efficient vehicle capable of accelerating to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 131 mph.
The car’s comfortable interior is appointed with leather trimmings and wood accents, and passengers in the front will enjoy ten-way-powered heated and ventilated seats. In line with the automobile’s luxe persona are several powered features, which include side view mirrors, a rear sunshade, a tilt-and-slide moonroof and even a trunk closer. Other standard accouterments include a HomeLink remote control, steering wheel-mounted audio and display controls, and a ten-speaker premium sound system. A control dynamic radar cruise control, voice-activated DVD navigation system, rear spoiler, XM satellite radio, pre-collision radar system and fourteen-speaker Mark Levinson audio system are all optional.
