2010 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost Review

American-Made Luxe Performance

A three-quarter front view of a 2010 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost

In short: A sporty, power-minded sedan.

We had a good time in our twin-turbo, tuxedo black Lincoln MKS with Sienna flagship leather seats—and Lincoln wants to make sure you do, too, so you can tell your friends about it. Taking a random sample of test drivers, you're likely to find them divided right down the middle, but we'd like to put some weight on the buy recommendation side of the scale.

A turbocharger has never really saved fuel and adding a second one won't help matters too much in the fuel-saving department. However, if you can get past the fact that this car didn't make our Top 10 Fuel Efficient Automobiles list, you will find it on our Top 10 Value Cars list, because the overall package offers quite a bit of value. The 355 horsepower, 350 pound-foot torque V6 motor delivers great performance supported by an all-wheel drive system. The concept here is to give you V8 power with V6 fuel consumption and good road-hugging capabilities. The car is easy to drive and has plenty of pep to get you in trouble with the authorities. There is decent passenger space front and back, including the trunk, making it a valuable all-purpose family sedan with attitude.

The MKS EcoBoost represents a bit more of what cars are going to be like. This smart sedan uses technology to enhance the daily enjoyment of its driver and passengers. Map navigation is easy to use and the car is maneuverable and easy to park, especially with the optional Active Park Assist. Inside the vehicle, it's airy and bright with the dual panel moonroof, making for a pleasant cabin. You get to talk to it a lot via the Synch voice activated system. There are many ways to adjust the heated and cooled front seats, and even the back seats have heat. Another added bonus is the dual-zone electronic auto climate control, which helps to satisfy both those on the cool side and the sunny side of the street.

Styling is contemporary, and showing up at the opera house or the next big family get-together is sure to turn some heads while still keeping you safe. The government safety rating for frontal and side crashes is five stars. No problem heading to the country club for a round of 18 and bringing back groceries. It is definitely an attractive, all-purpose 21st-century sedan.
