2010 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Review

Inspired Italian Drop-Top

In short: A stylish high-performance sport convertible.

For a fun-to-drive, stylish and roomy convertible, you can't go wrong with the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible. Once the cashier has collected $140,000 or thereabouts, you own a lifestyle reserved for a happy few. The good news is that with the room in the back seat, you can actually go along for the ride without sacrificing one of your children's Harvard education funds.

A look at the 4.7-liter, 433-horsepower DOHC V8 engine of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible

Engage the Sport button and the 4.7-liter V8 will deliver a lot of juice and sing a sweet, throaty melody as the power pours out of the proven, naturally aspirated motor. Control the 6-speed ZF transmission from the tips of your fingers via the fixed paddles in manual mode, or let the software take care of business should you be cruising along Rodeo Drive for a drive-by shopping experience. The lines of the convertible preserve the coupe's original shape to the letter. The triple layer soft-top retracts in a box designed to strengthen the car to deal with torsion issues, albeit leaving little room for our new wardrobe items. Brembo brakes on 20 birdcage design wheels attached to a Skyhook electronic active suspension will keep this thoroughbred glued to the road in your extra-legal driving endeavors, but also rather comfortable during an evening out to the opera. This Italian product is easy to drive, with its simple and efficient cabin and instrument arrangement. Our are hats off to the House of the Trident for producing a benchmark-setting heritage craft.
