Sweet Smokin' Ride
2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe
By Alain Gayot

In short: An awesome sports coupe with four seats.

Infiniti, the upscale division of Nissan, now has solid roots in the marketplace and keeps churning out attractive vehicles at equally attractive prices. Overall, they deliver great value, benefiting from research and development dollars coming from the mass-market models. Warranty and service terms show commitment and backing for the brand.

The G35 Coupe is supposed to be the sports version of the sedan, but we think it has more in common with Nissan’s brilliant 350Z, only with four seats. The lines are smooth and pleasing, and the car feels totally balanced. Inside there is plenty of room so that you won’t feel cramped (albeit snug enough to keep you where you need to be during tight cornering situations). The seating in the back will best accommodate smaller people but will also work fine for larger folks if the front seats are moved forward. The dash is neat and no nonsense, and the leather wrapped steering wheel provides all the necessary controls at your fingertips including shift knobs. A Bose sound system with in-dash 6-disc CD changer will pipe quality tunes. His and hers automatic temperature control is de rigueur.

It's a total pleasure to drive in most conditions. Yes, the suspension is a bit tight but nothing too rough. The magnificent V6 whirls pleasantly as it delivers power continuously via the auto transmission with manual shift mode and downshift rev matching. Keep an eye out for law enforcement officials, as you will find yourself going faster than you should quickly. Michelin Pilot Sport tires are mounted on 17-inch spoke aluminum wheels (with pressure monitoring system) for a sure-footed rear drive performance.
