The Power of Now
Top 7 Self Help Books
Eckhart Tolle took the mysticism out of Eastern philosophy and distilled its wisdom clearly and succinctly for a Western audience in search of answers. While subtitled "A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment," The Power of Now (1997) really is a matter-of-fact road map for overcoming what's in your way to living a happy and fulfilled life: your mind. When we picked it up first, we felt like we were reading stuff we had always known, just phrased better and more clearly. For those not familiar with basic Eastern philosophy principles such as the "eternal now," it will be good intro to spirituality 101. PS: Oprah is a big admirer, as are actors Jim Carrey and Zach Galifianakis!
