Fashionable Skis, Fishing Set, Bicycle and More

Chanel Sport's rosewood, fiberglass and aluminum parabolic skis |
Leave it to Chanel to elevate sporting goods to a whole new level of style and luxury. What started with a trompe l'oeil quilted snowboard has spawned into a growing collection of absurdly imprudent (we're talking $12,000 for a bicycle here) yet extremely covetable sports equipment for the fashion set. Victoria Beckham has been seen on the slopes of Verbier in Switzerland and, more recently, Courchevel in France outfitted with Chanel skis. The 2008 version is a set of parabolic skis constructed of rosewood, fiberglass and aluminum, designed for any level of skier.
For warm-weather excursions, Chanel produced a limited-edition bicycle with quilted leather seat and accents, and, of course, the Chanel logo. One of the latest additions to the line is the Chanel stamped fishing kit. It comes with a carbon fishing rod, fishing reel, knife and signature "double C" flies, all encased in a black quilted leather case. If anything can lure a fashionista to cold water, insects and live fish, this would be it.

A "couture" bicycle |
As it turns out, this extravagant piece of designer fishing equipment has a tie to Chanel’s history. Mademoiselle Chanel herself is said to have had a talent for fishing, a sport she picked up through her many cruises during the 1920s to Italy, Scotland and Norway with her then love interest the Duke of Westminster. If she were alive today, she would surely approve of Karl Lagerfeld's chic design of a Chanel-branded fishing set.
