Slim for Life

The Ultimate Health and Detox Plan

by Dr. Gillian McKeith

Slim for Life

"This is NOT a diet!" is what Dr. McKeith argues decisively in her book. The plan she outlines is a regimented system to help readers lose weight while embarking on a lifestyle of healthiness. In addition to meal suggestions, Dr. McKeith also includes work-out regimens along with detox plans and tips on personal motivation. When readers needs some help or lose sight of their goals, the book also comes complete with a clear "SOS Emergency Plan," in which Dr. McKeith walks the experimenter through the whole process.

Unlike some diet books that provide answers without asking the right questions, Slim For Life succeeds in identifying the root of the problem and explaining how that problem can be solved. Readers are asked to record what food they are currently eating in order to make them truly aware of what they are putting in their bodies. They are then directed to analyze this food diary and make the appropriate healthy changes. If readers need a push in the right direction, Dr. McKeith's 28 days of low-calorie, high-energy meals provide plenty of comfortable, enjoyable options. For example, Day 24's meal plan includes a Peach and Mango Smoothie for breakfast, an apple and grapefruit mid-morning snack, a Southern Style Black-Eyed Pea Salad with Red Onions and Peppers for lunch, a veggie juice mid-afternoon snack, and a dinner of Salmon and Savoy Cabbage Lasagna. Here's to the beginning of a better, healthier life!
