Western Movie Reviews
The good, the bad and the ugly
Western Films: Reviews, Trailers, Information and More
Really great Westerns are more than fast-paced shoot-em-ups and bar brawls. They explore complex heroes and anti-heroes wrestling with difficult moral decisions against the backdrop of the dusty and desolate Wild, Wild West. Due to its setting, one would think the Western is a through-and-through American genre, but some of the best were shot by Italians featuring epic close-ups and bombastic soundtracks. Recently, the genre received some renewed interest with "True Grit" in 2010 and "Cowboys & Aliens"
in 2011, culminating in 2012 with "Django Unchained," Quentin Tarantino's homage to the Spaghetti Western. Here are some more Westerns to explore, some good, some bad, some ugly.
