Escape to Laughter
Madagascar’s Wacky Animals Come Back for More
Following the time-honored philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," DreamWorks Animation kept the whole gang together for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, the very funny sequel to 2005's Madagascar. This means that Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett-Smith are once again lending their voices to the four animal friends from New York who ended up stranded on Madagascar in the first comedy. The popular penguins and the feisty old lady are back in this sequel, too, as well as the first film's co-directors/writers, and it definitely shows, with Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa being a worthy sequel to the very amusing original.
This time, Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo are ready to head back to New York on a plane constructed and manned by those all-too-clever penguins. The problem is, the plane isn't exactly held together too well, and the whole gang ends up crash landing in Africa, in the exact veldt where Alex was born.
A lively tale of friendship, love and the unyielding strength of family bonds follows, in this sequel that offers up life lessons for the younger set, and plenty of clever jokes and sight gags to keep the adults engaged as well. Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is especially eye-popping at an IMAX theater, with the giant screen making the brilliant colors of Africa jump right off the screen. But whether you and your children see this fun flick in one of those huge theaters or in a more traditional movie setting, there's no doubt that your whole family will leave the theater with big smiles on your faces.
