Across the board, directors and writers pushed the envelope of well-worn themes to produce a wide array of films vying for the top spots at the motion picture podium. Our picks include tales of human triumph, thrilling narratives, heart-wrenching dramas, and even a teen coming-of-age tale filled with charm instead of cheese. Sadly, while some of our selections depict episodes from America's past, a premiere of another of our choices became a regrettable part of U.S. history. Feel free to agree or disagree with our choices (just like we do with this year’s Oscar snubs), but we know that there’s something for everyone to enjoy on our list of Top 10 Films of 2012.
