Director Jean-Luc Godard's first feature, "Breathless" helped kick off the French New Wave movement and made household names of its two young stars, Jean Seberg and Jean-Paul Belmondo, with its existential tale of two doomed lovers caught up in a senseless crime and driven apart by their own restless ennui. While some have criticized the aloof Patricia and the Bogart-obsessed Michel as two of the most unlikable protagonists in cinema, we can't help but root for these two star-crossed anti-heroes every time we watch this landmark French film.
