We love our parents, but when they can't take care of us, we dream of someone with magical powers who can open up whole new worlds while keeping us safe in our own. Enter (courtesy of her flying umbrella) Mary Poppins, who has just the right amount of humanity, wisdom and moxie to take care of the Banks family, as well as every terrible tyke ever featured on TV's "Supernanny." The soundtrack is phenomenal; there's no medicine that will cure the earworm that is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious or A Spoonful of Sugar. The rubber-faced Dick van Dyke brings his many talents as the chimney sweep who falls for Mary's charms. "Mary Poppins" is now a popular stage musical, but we can't imagine anyone other than Julie Andrews paying the icon. This omnipotent nanny has become so ubiquitous, she took on Voldemort and won during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics.
