(1972)
Inspired by the raw art of Francis Bacon, Bernardo
Bertolucci tells the story of a young Parisienne
and her sordid affair with an older American
(Marlon Brando). Highly controversial when it
first came out, considered obscene by some and
the most erotic movie ever by others, it is as
powerful today as it was then. Bertolucci said
of the girl’s character that he wanted her like
Lolita but more perverse.
