The view from the Waikiki Plantation Spa’s roof sundeck is breathtaking, and it is the perfect backdrop for this tiny oasis at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. Indulge in a massage that combines the ancient Hawaiian traditional healing modalities of both lomi lomi ("loving hands" massage) and pohaku (hot stone). A practitioner schooled in these traditions will commence and end each treatment with a prayer said in Hawaiian—or offer a moment of silence if she does not speak this ancient language—taking you deep into relaxation.

For those less spiritually inclined, Waikiki Plantation Spa offers the usual spa menu including a variety of body polishes and scrubs using local ingredients such as macadamia nuts, pineapple, Kona coffee and Hawaiian salt. Traditional massages such as sports massage and Swedish massage are also offered. Wraps, polishes, manicures, pedicures and even Ayurvedic facials round out the spa offerings—and don’t forget that fabulous view from the sundeck.

Our recommendation? Go for the lomi pohaku massage; it will give you a sense of Hawaii you've most likely never experienced before.
