Le Posh Salon & Spa - Review

Posh Treatment in Los Angeles, CA

Patches of moss and rows of birch trees give the nail salon at Le Posh Salon & Spa in Los Angeles a tranquil feel
Birch trees and moss accent the nail salon of Le Posh Salon & Spa

We've visited spas around the world, so we have seen a lot of unique amenities. But we've never seen television sets on the ceiling before we visited the new Le Posh Salon & Spa in Los Angeles, California. The designers of this day spa figured that while getting a Brazilian Blowout or a shampoo, clients would much rather prefer watching Fashion TV instead of counting cracks in the ceiling.

This is just one of the many nice touches at this decidedly "urban" spa, as noted by the large video screen outside advertising its charms as well as the pair of tattoo parlors across the street. But once they step inside, guests escape from the gritty city into a large, modern room that's decorated by lovely birch trees. The Russian owner wanted this unique touch of his homeland, since the birch tree is believed to have restorative powers. Other refreshing offerings available include free valet parking, a deejay spinning tunes and complimentary Champagne.

The treatment rooms at Le Posh Salon & Spa in Los Angeles offers unique massages and wraps

The main room has a very communal feel, as it houses the reception area, the hair salon (which features Oribe products), the nail salon (where patches of moss break up the white floor) and a retail section. The retail area boasts a premium selection of product lines that are used in the spa, such as Tasha and Co. skin care products, Biologique Recherche cosmetics and items from Tea Forte. There's also a VIP suite where wedding parties can get their hair and nails done together, or a wife can get gussied up while her spouse gets to watch the game on yet another flat-screen TV.

In the quiet, candle-lit back portion of the spa is a waiting room, two facial rooms and two massage rooms. Wraps, such as the Signature Seaweed Birch Wrap, are performed in the hydrotherapy room, so a client won't have to put on a robe and walk to a shower to clean up when they're done. Instead, the fourteen shower heads above the table will wash the seaweed birch clay away easily.

The tranquility of urban spas is often compromised by jarring city sounds, like sirens, that tend to leak in. That was not the case here, but our very restorative bodywork was interrupted briefly by strange thumping sounds from above. It turns out that the day spa also features its own yoga studio upstairs, so practitioners can combine a class and a beauty or body treatment. They even offer the first class free of charge. So with the money you save, why not treat yourself to a mani-pedi?
