At The Lodge at Woodloch, in eastern Pennsylvania, Dad can kick back by a cozy fireplace, nap on a covered porch or soak in an indoor Aqua Garden under Hydrotherapy Water Walls. Just a couple of hours from New York City and Philadelphia, he’ll savor a special Father’s Day where walls of glass, natural woods and stone bring the 75-acre woodsy Poconos retreat indoors, where the wine sommelier hosts tastings and where the food is delicious.

A grand and soaring lodge—with a stunning entry, library, restaurant and boutique—separates the room wing from the spa wing. Here, men enjoy their own private shower and changing room, saunas, steam rooms and whirlpool, a lounge with a fireplace and amenities ranging from terry robes and slippers to razors and shaving cream. As for services, there are 27 treatment rooms reserved for an array of relaxing and healing wraps and polishes, facials and massages including The Lodge Massage for Two.

The 100-minute Men’s Retreat starts with a Eucalyptus body polish and bath and includes a full body massage ($277 with 18% gratuity). Men also love the authentic Delaware River Stone Massage, a treatment indigenous to the local Lenni Lenape Native American tribe which incorporates warmed stones to a classic Swedish full-body massage using a choice of aromatherapy oils ($218 for 75 minutes, including 18% gratuity). The Lodge at Woodloch features one of the spa world’s most impressive fitness centers with a fabulous Cardio Weight Studio, aerobics, yoga and meditation rooms and a dedicated Pilates studio.

While some folks never step outside, others golf to their heart’s content. The area’s natural habitat definitely attracts outdoorsy dads who take part in the resort’s Outdoor Adventure Program and go trail or mountain biking, river rafting or hiking. Viewing wildlife, birdwatching for Osprey, Bald Eagles, and Great Blue Heron or fishing and kayaking in the resort’s own 15-acre Lake Teedyuskung are part of daily life in this very rural region. And, the Lodge transports guests to a variety of 3-5 mile hikes along the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack, through the 2,000-acre Prompton State Park or past wildflowers and boulders hiking near Egypt Meadow Lake, glacially-formed Bruce Lake or scenic Masthope Creek. Mid-week room rates start at $249.
